To show you what I'm talking about...
Let me tell you the story of my client, Malik.
Malik was constantly overthinking things — emails, interactions with colleagues, the value that he brought to the table, indecision over the “right” thing to work on.
What took his peers two days would take him at least a week!
Sometimes it would take him hours to write one simple email. He’d put off difficult projects until last minute out of fear of doing them incorrectly.
Even worse, he would wake up in the middle of the night with racing thoughts.
In particular, he would replay scenarios in his head over and over. He’d think about the feedback his boss gave him and what he could’ve done differently.
He would worry about the future, preoccupied with everything that could go wrong for a product launch.
That’s because Malik struggled with never feeling good enough or qualified enough to do his role.
But once we worked on overhauling his beliefs and negative self-talk, Malik was able to work more efficiently and not waste so much energy on simple tasks.
Best of all, he got a double promotion! He skipped a level because of his increase in performance at work.
